Sure, it’s basically a super fancy explorer window alternative for games, but at the same time, it is one of the best ways to not only easily organize and navigate your game collection, but possibly the best way to show it off:

Awesome game images (cover art), customizable BGs which shift to match as you hover over a game in your library and featured when looking at the game’s info  screen, and sound track music on the game info screen as well!

The info scrapped from IGDB is awesome as well, not only because it’s used for automated organization which makes navigation easy but also because it has great nerdy info (review, rating, developer, publisher, year released, etc).

The only major things missing are:

An integrated gaming optimizer, i.e.: something that will shutdown selected background programs and services when a game launches and restart them when the user exits the game.

An integrated game analyzer which tracks fps, gpu, cpu and ram usage and displays a report of those stats via the game’s info screen.

Yes, many features are still missing (customizable categories) but given the current feature set and beta state it is definitely worth not only keeping an eye on, but investing in.

    Hi!
Thanks for the feedback, I’m glad you enjoy using GameRoom!

An integrated gaming optimizer, i.e.: something that will shutdown selected background programs and services when a game launches and restart them when the user exits the game.

So this is technically already possible, although not really user friendly. The way to do it is check “advanced mode” and set commands to kill your programs before starting games (e.g. taskkill /F /IM "teamviewer.exe") and start them again after (e.g. start /min "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\TeamViewer\TeamViewer.exe"). I agree this currently is not user friendly and could be offered via UI, but I need to figure another way to kill programs reliably (as it kills using the .exe’s name and not its path, it might give conflicts if two .exe’s are named the same.)

An integrated game analyzer which tracks fps, gpu, cpu and ram usage and displays a report of those stats via the game’s info screen.

This is really far in the to-do list. There already exists lots of great programs that’d do that certainly better than if I implemented this. But maybe an integration with the MSI Afterburner/RivaTuner Statistics is more forseable.

Yes, this one should be one of the next features. I have just changed of professional situation so I’ll see when’s the next time I’d be able to work on GameRoom.
